We are getting married in June. Our colors are claret (a deeper red), white, and silver. Our tables are going to be 66" wide and seat 8 people per table. The reception should be about 50-60 people (so, 6-7 tables). We are having Gerber daisies (one of each, hand-tied) in red, orange and yellow for the bridesmaids and a single red rose boutonnière for the men. I am thinking of sprinkling red rose petals on the table, but am not set on that. We are looking for candle-type centerpieces, or, floral. We aren't looking to spend more than about $300 in total on them. Thank you in advance for any help. I really appreciate it! =-)

Hi and congratulations!

It sounds lovely! I love red roses myself.
Here is what I would suggest. It sounds like the table are ROUND? tables. I am thinking they are.

I would get a large - 10" or 12" ROUND mirror for each table;

Then get a round glass bowl:

OR…and smaller one if you want.

Put in some "vase gems"

And float some "red rose" candles in it. These are not sold on this site, but available online on many sites.

Sprinkle with red rose petals and your done!

Another option:
Again, get a 10" mirror, and get one of these combination bowls:

OR…..go with the gerbera daisies. I love those! And they are not that expensive.

Get a glass vase and put a red, orange and yellow gerbera in them, put it on a 8" or 10" round mirror and then put some votives next to them!

Good luck!

There is SO much to do with candles I'm going to be using floating candles in either a cylinder type of glass or a large bowl, with gems on the bottom. There is going to be on a mirror and I'm going to have rose petals all around it. You can use you wedding colors for the gems or the flowers around it. You can get everything pretty cheap online. it will only cost me a little more then $100 for everything and we are planning on 150 people with the same size tables as you. Here are some ideas.

Candles are great! I worked at a wedding venue for a year, and I saw a lot of different styles for decorating. I would steer away from the flowers, as they are so expensive and it is almost wasteful. With candles, you can use them again. Try scented, if you like any particular scent, because that really helps set the mood. Some people use coffee beans in the candle vase, and the whole place will smell like fresh coffee— if you like that! Candles are just so pretty. Keep it simple. But, you need to make sure that they meet the regulations of the venue! I've seen many people bring in candles that didn't meet regulations, and its a bummer!

I am doing a cylinder with water and inside orchids. surronding the centerpeice will be votive candles. I have also seen where you can do say a cylinder with water and a floating candle…a friend did that and it was beautiful.

How about creating pretty wreaths with your flowers in them and having big candles in the center of those?

okay floral! dead easy, inexpensive, and looks gorgeous!
you can do whatever shape you like. you need floral foam, you can buy it at pretty much any craft store in any shape you want. i like the ball shapes, but you can get pillar shapes, low rectangular shapes, all kinds.
you also need carnations in a couple of different shades of red. [or whatever color you choose, but red comes up looking very luxurious and will tie in with the men's boutinierres!] so make sure your floral foam shape is soaked in tepid water so it is good and wet.
then take a carnation and using a knife, [not scissors], cut the stem off about one inch below the flower. fluff the petals up a bit, stick the flower stem into the foam and you are on your way. now do another one, remembering to fluff up the petals before you stick it in the ball. its that easy! keep going until you have the ball completely covered in flowers! it doesn't take too long to do and you only need one per table. i like to pack the flowers tightly together so it would take perhaps three dozen carnations to cover a six inch ball. of course you don't have to pack it so tightly. carnations should run about fifty to sixty cents each so the cost is quite reasonable.
you sit the ball into a wide mouthed clear glass vase. the mouth of the vase should be just big enough for the ball to sit into it an inch or two. the finished piece shouldn't be too high or it will impede people's views and their ability to chat across the table with other guests. center the vase and encircle it with votives and scatter a few yellow, red and orange/red rose petals amongst the candles and you are done! if you don't want to do flower petals then scatter some colored glass stones around - they will glitter in the candle light!
if you choose the pillar shape then you wouldn't need the vases which would save you money.
if you chose a long low rectangular shape you wouldn't need to cover the bottom as they would sit flat on the table so you wouldn't need as many flowers and that would save you a few dollars. with them you would use tealights instead of votives so that the candle height wouldn't be higher than the floral pieces. you could also do each table a different shape centerpiece which would be very pretty.
good luck sweetie and happy wedding!
