2009 Feb 06 3I'm getting married in June and am using glass bowls with marbles and a candle in them, sitting on a mirror for the centerpiece. Floating candles in some sort of bowl might work too.

2009 Feb 06 4Try a small bowl, $1.00 from the dollar store, and a goldfish 0.30 cents from pet store, for a centerpiece on your tables. Did this at nefew's wedding, was a big hit. Guests can take home the goldfish.

2009 Feb 06 6You could hang paper lanterns and use tea lights on the table scattered with flower petals. Or use bunches of carnations which is what I did, it was gorgeous! Use could also use curly branches ans hang tea lights from the and put them in a vase! Spray paint the branches.
You can make monogram cookies or have a candy bar and put little bags on the table and let guest pick what they want.

2009 Feb 06 7try those small bottles of bubbles with ribbons tied on them in the wedding colors. or candy coated almonds wrapped in tulle and ribbons. i also like when the couple puts their favorite songs on a cd with their pic on the front. as for centerpieces, glass bowls with floating candles are always pretty.

2009 Feb 06 10No fish. No fish, no fish, no fish.
Frankly, as a guest I would be effing PISSED that a bride and groom expected me to take on the obligation of caring for a live animal just because they wanted a cool centerpiece.
And more importantly, it's cruel. Really cruel. Most fish used as centerpieces die before the reception is over or get left and then flushed. Those that don't end up dying have no way to escape the sensory overload that comes with being in a strange, loud environment.
Check out Dollar Tree, Wal-mart, and even thrift shops for cool vases, candles, mirrors, flowers…you can find a lot of variety and great prices. Good luck!

2009 Feb 06 11Don't feel like you absolutely have to give favors. If you feel like you must, try some DIY projects or instead of centerpieces, put something at every place setting that can double as a favor. Check out IKEA for inexpensive ideas.

2009 Feb 06 12I cant help on the wedding favors because we are not doing them. It is a waste of money to give everyone a :"token" when either they leave the empty box there or dont even take the favor. We are putting expensive candy out on trays on the table instead.
As for the centerpieces…..This is what we are doing. We are in a venue that hall tall ceilings. We wanted to do floral arrangements in fresh flowers but that really adds up in prices. After searching the internet for several months we finally found something that was awesome, had a WOW factor, inexpensive and just flat out what we wanted!!!! We are doing this in our wedding colors which is in black, pink and white. The lady who is handling this for us is super excited and has her own shop in handling what we are getting. Hope you like this link!!!! Our wedding reception is going to look awesome!!!! Please note we are doing one on each table and not the heart canopy in the background.

2009 Feb 06 13centerpiece - try a pastel tin bucket (each table can have its own color bucket) fill with smooth gray stones, place cherry blossom twigs with buds in bucket (the stones will hold branches in place).
table - round with crisp white linens
chairs - white slip covers but, tie with a 6 to 8 inch satin ribbon
match the color of the ribbon to the pastel bucket color.
this is sure to bring a sweet and fun look to the reception while keeping it cohesive
wedding party favor - packet of seeds with your wedding info printed on the back or a baby cherry blossom tree.

2009 Feb 06 15Pretty boxes or bags of favors for the center pieces. Two birds with one stone.
http://www.table-settings-with-pictures.com/images/stacked_favor_centerpiece.jpg
You could stick a few pretty blooms in between the boxes if you want flowers. White carnations would be pretty.
Party city and Hobby Lobby have great affordable favor boxes. I've even seen some great ones at Wal-Mart. Fill them with candy, soaps, bath beads, mints, anything you want.
Cup cake tiers are pretty, and also do double duty as center piece and favors. (you could have some cake bags or boxes on hand if they want to take it home.

Again if you mix in a few flowers I think it would be even more beautiful.
Good luck!
