I always suggest getting floating candles, three different sized vases and ribbon for a DIY candle centerpeice. Simply fill the vases 3/4 full, and top with a floating candle, and tie a ribbon around the outside to hide where the candle meets the water. It is a very easy simple and cheap idea, and it has looked really nice at every wedding I’ve seen it at. Too plain? Add river rocks, or even a flower with a little bit of a stem to the bottom of the vase.

I’ve seen really pretty centerpieces that use different height glasses (like the box sets from Ikea) with white candles in them. The glasses are clustered together in groups and flower petals are strewn around them thickly to cohere the centerpiece together. It works on round tables and look stunning on long rectangular ones. The key is to get enough candles into the bunch to create a strong glow.
