Okay, so my boyfriend finally popped the question and now its on to planning the wedding. This is what we have planned so far: We are getting married on August 14th 2010 at a state park. We are renting out a pavilion for the day. We will be having the wedding ceremony and reception at the same location. We have picked out a caterer, that we feel in love with and the cake is ready to go!
What I need help with is coming up with some cute centerpiece ideas. At this point, I think that my colors are going to be Orchid and cream but I am not sure. I am really just starting to feel overwhelmed and confused and really need some suggestions on centerpieces.
Thanks so much for reading this and I hope to hear back from someone soon!
Melissa
Thank you so much everyone for replying so far! Your ideas have really inspired me to be creative! My next question is do you think that fake flowers or "cheap flowers" like carnations tacky?
I don’t know where you live or whether wind will be a factor. If so, you need to keep them fairly low.
A mirror tile with a bowl with floating flowers in your colors would look pretty.
This bowl is what I’m thinking of - I know you can find them a lot cheaper!

2009 Aug 12 1how about clear glass vases in different sizes and mancala beads or diamondy glass rocks in the vase with water and then a few orchids floating on the top of the water (or on stems) and a cream bow on the bottom? you could put different shaped vases and different sizes on the table

2009 Aug 12 4What about galvanized buckets on the tables? They could serve as ice buckets for the table bottles of wine. Surround with some tea lights and few flowers and you’re good to go. You can dress up the buckets with a bow in the wedding colors. Tie in your favors by using mini-buckets to give away your favors in.

2009 Aug 12 5Congrats on your engagement!
Try not to get to overwhelmed. You still have lots of time and you already have a lot of things in order.
First, you should check with your venue to make sure they don’t have any decoration restrictions. Some places won’t allow things like open flame candles, etc. It’s always best to ask…
Here are a few cute ideas that you might be able to use. Centerpieces can be very simple or extremely elaborate…it just all depends on what you want.
If you are going to use orchid as a color you could also incorporate orchids into your centerpieces. I’ve seen some beautiful orchids submerged in water, like these:
