How can I make Centerpieces for under $5/table?
19 Feb 2009
We have a HUGE guest list and many tables, and am looking for a cheap way to make centerpieces for the wedding, I would like to include candles somehow, and our color is a light blue.
Hi, and Congratulations!; You can certainly make amazing centerpieces for under $5; First of all, if you're thinking of flowers, try searching through your local yellow pages for wholesale/warehouse florists, they sell rose bunches at about $6-$9 for 25 roses, and very great prices on all other types of flowers too! (flowers can get very pricey and this definitely helps!). If your wedding color is blue, how about getting some hurricane vases (I've seen them at Wal-Mart in the craft section for about $1.80 each!), then fill them with sand (available at craft stores, or if you live near a beach or a lake that has a beach, scoop some up for free!), and put a lovely white pillar candle in there (this adds glamour and charm to an otherwise blah table), You can get some lovely 2-3 inch blue ribbon (to match your blue color used in other things you already have) and tie a lovely bow around the hurricane vase (you might want to add a little drop of hot glue to keep the bow from sliding down, if you want to have it stay up in the center of it). If you are planning a beach-theme wedding, then add some tiny little seashells (they sell bags of these t your local craft stores for about $2) and maybe sprinkle some around the hurricane vase and the center of the tables. Maybe add some white rose petals instead of the seashells if you're not doing the beachy-theme. You could also get little tiny rhinestones and use those instead of the rose petals or the seashells, and make it a very GLAM look!.
The point is to let lose, and get creative, try going to your local craft store and take a friend and try things there, you'll certainly come up with something fabulous for under $5 each!.
Best of luck!!

2009 Feb 20 2Start by choosing, let's say, the actual holder for the centerpiece. Contact the company that makes the holder and you may be able to buy them in bulk at a cheaper price than it's sold in the stores. And so on and so forth.
You may want to contact a candle maker in your city who can make custom candles for you to fit your decor/colors. If you can't find one try, http://www.andreascandlecreations.com .

2009 Feb 20 4my centerpieces were under five bucks..
i got married at Christmas time. but i had a candle holder, candel and a small holly berry wreath from wal-mart b/c they were supposed to hang on the wall, but i took them apart and but them as centerpieces. :d it looked awesome! i also sprinkled m&m's and candy canes around too.
but for you.. can do white and blue candels (which i got all mine w/different shapes and sizes and different sizes and shapes of candle holders at Hobby Lobby).
I got everything from Hobby Lobby and they actually have sales ALL THE TIME! I also bought some stuff from Wal-Mart too.
you can find cute lil blue leus out there and cut them up to make them look like you have blue flowers. and you can personalize some m&m's and go on their website and do that as another thing. go to a Dollar Store or Dollar General and pick up picture frames and drap some of the blue flowers around it or even lay one on the bottom of the pic. frame and buy black, white, silver picture frames.. now that would look cute.. you can always keep the frames or even give them to your family/friends that attend or as presents.don't forget if u do this, put a picture or a saying that represents your love for one another. thata would look so cute.
good luck and congrats. !

2009 Feb 20 6Go to the Dollar Trees or check the sales in Hobby Lobby. You can always use blue rocks and different shape candle holders from the dollar stores. You can always spray paint the candle holders to match your decor.

2009 Feb 20 8For my centerpieces I got bud vases at Hobby Lobby during one of their many sales for $0.70 each and then put three stems of fresh flowers in them that were a dollar each. To finish it off I put votive candles around the vase that were 4/$1. All that for $5!

2009 Feb 20 9Go to a nearby dollar store, get some nice vases for $1 each and fill them with silk flowers ($1 each) or fill them with fresh flowers that you've bought in bulk. This is what I did and it was great.
