Any ideas on where to find any nice, but cheap centerpieces for several reception tables?
17 Feb 2009
The reception is in TN at the church I attend. We don't need anything fancy, just something that makes the tables look nice.
Thanks for all the great ideas! Just to let you know-the colors are pink and silver.
A glass bowl with floating candles and little flowers that match you wedding colors. You can make the water colored to match also. A ribbon around the rim of the bowl would look nice. This should cost you about $3 a table.

2009 Feb 18 2Hello. My name is TJ and I am a wedding coordinator in Santa Barbara/Los Angeles. I have two suggestions for you actually. Putting tiny potted plants/flowers, wrapped in cellophane of your wedding colors, and grouped in the center of your table serves two purposes. It adds color, not expensive - as you can buy small potted plants at the 99 cent store, and, these can serve as favors for your guests as well. when they leave, they take a plant home with them. Place a "table card" near the plants telling your guests to enjoy the plants, and take one as they leave.
The other thing you can do, is go to your craft store, buy 99cent bowls, and place fish in the center surrounded by colored rocks. (of course in your wedding colors) These also can be taken home by guests.
Hope this helps.

2009 Feb 18 4Is there an Ikea near you? They have the cheapest vases. I used them for my wedding. They were filled with cranberries and looked beautiful. Is there a berry that matches your colors?
Another thing I have seen is mismatched silver pitchers on each table. They were borrowed from a bunch of different guests who had a set of silver (usually older women, the tradition of giving a silver tea or water set has kind of died out). These are some examples of what I mean:

You could start by asking your grandma and any of the other older ladies at church. Even if you only find one or two, they would be nice the head table. The wedding that I went to that used them also had different flowers in each, and instead of table numbers they were the flower names. If you are trying to keep it cheap, I think wildflowers would look so pretty in the silver. If no one has any silver, ask about crystal (or even glass) vases, they may have them. Just to make sure you have everything right, put a little piece of masking tape with the owners name on it on the bottom of the pitcher of vase. I think you'll find that people will be really willing to help you, they will like to feel like they are a part of it.
EDIT: Pink and silver? How pretty. You could check craft stores for fake berries in those colors, or you could spray paint some if you can find them. And I have to say the silver pitchers sound even better with pink and silver. Maybe some pink flowers? Here is a partial list of flowers available in pink:

2009 Feb 18 5Hi,
How about little bowls with floating candles and rose petals sprinkled around it or you can use a glass plate with a candle on top with rose petal around it. They can serve as favors too!
Pink and silver will be beautiful!

2009 Feb 18 6I found floating taper candles in silver and clear glass holders for $4.99 at the WrapWithUs web site. You could use pink candles instead of the white ones that come with. They are very pretty with a silk flower and ribbon decoration on them. My reception is in the church also and I just wanted something simple. I ordered one for each table and plan to give them to my bridal party, sisters and our mothers as a gift.
I was very pleased with the quality. I ordered them on a Monday (standard shipping) and got them delivered by UPS on Friday the same week.
