It is maybe the last thing on your mind as the final preparations for the important day are being addressed.  However, if you’re opting for a conventional ceremony, it’s best that you ensure that the party knows the order of the wedding receptions speeches and toasts.

When are the toasts offered?

Naturally, it is your decision how you need to run your own wedding!  In general, the key toasts begin just after the main course is completed.  This occurs before any cake is cut.  Sometimes, there’s a welcoming toast at the cocktail hour before the wedding dinner.

What’s the order of the marriage reception speeches?

First up is the father of the bride who thanks all those for coming.  Naturally he toasts his girl and welcomes the groom into his family.

The daddy of the groom (infrequently though not always) speaks for the family, welcomes the bride and tells everybody how lucky his child is!

The groom generally next in the order of wedding speeches; His role in the toasts is to thank all those for coming to the event and particularly he can toast his bride.  He also needs time out thank his marriage party and family for all the help he has received.

The groomsman or best man is next.  He will sometimes tell a few stories with varying level of humor and sensitivity about the groom.  This is always the longest toast and in most circumstances the most impatiently awaited.

Next in the order is the maid of honor, who in a corresponding fashion (but with more sensitiveness) will tell the fans how proud she is to be in this role and what a great person the bride is.

Finally, in the conventional order marriage or wedding reception speeches, the bride will take the floor.  She will re-affirm the thanks her hubby has given to everyone and will also acknowledge the help her family, bridal party and man has given her during the last few months.

Occasionally, the mother of the bride or even other family members speaks but that’s not as common as against the order set out above.

Society and relationship being his preferred topic he quite usually publish articles or blog posts on wedding speeches like Groom Speeches and Short best man speeches etc.
