When you’re planning for your bridal accessories, you don’t want to not remember about something blue, something old and something new. Although this is a tradition that has been in existence for hundreds of years, many brides today neglect the tradition. Even if you’ve a themed wedding or a casual wedding, you would still like to have these three things in your procession. For something old, a few brids have something that is handed down from family member to member of the family like family heirloom or just a thing that has sentimental value. Some brides will where something from there mums or grandmothers.

Something old can be the marriage ceremony dress, handkerchief, necklace or other jewelry or something else. Bridal accessories also include something new. For something new, you have your bridal gown, your shoes, your headpiece or anything else you might have brought. This is in reality the easiest bridal accessories since you need these things anyways. For something blue, you may select a garter. If blue does not match your wedding color arrangement, the garter is always a great way to have something blue. If you color scheme includes the color blue, then you will already have your color.

Something borrowed for your wedding can be open to anything as long as it matches with your color arrangement. You could borrow a necklace, bracelet, earrings or even a wedding party veil from a family member. You may even borrow something like a little trinket that you can attach to your bridal bouquet without taking clear of the bouquet itself. Many brides also borrow a ring or a wedding band from their mothers to wear alternatively as something borrowed. These old traditions are still strong when marriage ceremonies take place more so than any other wedding tradition.

The meaning behind something old is that you are uniting in marriage and discarding the old. You are making a fresh new life with the man you love and will share eternity. Something new is that your union will commence a brand new life and new adventures. Something borrowed symbolizes someone or something that you respect or admire. Something blue then represents nothing. It was said that having something blue came as it rhymed with something new. The saying and tradition stills stands even though it has no symbolic meaning when you are getting married. As you should be able to see, except something blue, everything means or symbolizes something on you wedding day.

Other bridal accessories are also needed like the jewelry, make up, wedding party favors, cake knifes and invitations and give thanks cards. You always want to have everything you need far early to ensure there are no eleventh hour surprises. You are going to have adequate to worry about and consider the week for the special occasion without worrying about if you have everything you need. The day of you wedding, you should have all your bridal accessories including something new, old, borrowed and blue to take with to the area where you will be getting ready.
