A metaphor is an image used to represent another thing (without the use of as or like which would make it a simile!). So you could say that your Love is a stew that becomes richer for the years of seasoning.
Finding an image to represent your love will help your love settle into your souls just a bit deeper. There’s something magical about the way we understand things: when we have an image to connect an emotion to, we reinforce the emotion. So you want to choose an image to use at your wedding ceremony that after the wedding will allow you to continually remember how you felt on the day that you married. A silly little metaphor can do that, so choose a good one.
- Most importantly, the image you chose as a metaphor should support the wedding vows you are making.
The road toward a forever after marriage is long and challenging, even when it’s wildly rewarding and thrilling. Every couple needs reminders of both the romance and the payoff of life-long partnership.

The more familiar the metaphor to your life, the better it will work for you at both your wedding ceremony and in your marriage. If it’s something your community recognizes and you use it in your wedding ceremony, people will recognize it and buy into the image as being exactly you. That will engage them in the ceremony and in your marriage. And if it is a familiar image in your life, then you will be reminded again and again, that you loved one another enough to venture into this wonderful adventure called marriage
