Depending on the style of the wedding and the size of your home or garden, there’s a special warmth and uniqueness that can be derived from a home wedding.

A home or garden wedding can range from a ‘formal and catered’ affair to a more ‘informal’ and ‘do-it-yourself’ type of ceremony with a little help of your friends. If your home isn’t large enough, maybe some friends or relatives would offer the use of theirs.

A nice entrance can be made by coming down a stairway and have your ceremony take place infront of a fireplace, if you are planning to have your wedding inside of your house.

If in the garden, how about having the ceremony under a stately old tree or a decorated arch or gazebo? Whatever the focal point is, try to position it so the sun will not shine in the guests’ eyes.

Depending on the venue, your guests may stand or be seated. Make sure you don’t hold the ceremony for too long if the latter is the case. If you’re planning a ceremony outside, make sure the area can be tented or have the ceremony moved inside in the event of bad weather.

If your home is not large enough for the event, and you don’t want to borrow a friend’s or relatives, sometimes you can find private homes to rent through real-estate companies, wedding consultants or local newspapers. It may be possible to go through a company that finds locations for advertisements or television commercials. So check to see if your city has this kind of company.
