Ideas For A Romantic Honeymoon
22 Nov 2009
Honeymoons are more often than not seen as secondary to wedding planning, when, as far as memories go, they are just as significant as your day in church. It’s an occasion that you’ll never forget for the rest of your life, so give careful consideration to honeymoon ideas and honeymoon locations.
Initially decide what your objectives are for the trip and what you absolutely can’t do without. Where do you want to go? Do you want to relax or be active? What are your priorities? Cost, adventure, sightseeing, weather, etc. Talk over honeymoon ideas with your spouse to be, talk about locations, undertake some online research and ask your friends and family for opinions.
Trips to exclusive resorts or islands are traditionally popular, and for good reason. They mean that you can spend quality time with each other whilst unwinding from the busy timetable of the last few months and losing yourselves in beautiful surroundings.
Another option is to take a cruise; they give you the same quiet, relaxing experience whilst also making it possible to visit a host of different locations. Should you prefer a more active honeymoon, give consideration to an adventure travel trip or a mountain resort.
As for honeymoon locations, these are some of the most popular: Australia, Bali, Belize, Caribbean, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, French Polynesia, Greece, Hawaii, Italy, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Thailand.
Whatever type of honeymoon and location you choose, try to book it a minimum of six months in advance so that you’ll have the pick of the rooms, and can begin planning for your time away. See if there is a ‘romance’ or ‘honeymoon’ package available to enhance your time away; romantic extras like penthouse rooms, champagne and flowers will make your time away more memorable still.
As soon as your hotel is arranged, starting researching and booking restaurant seats, tickets, tours, and various other activities for which advance reservations can be needed, particularly so should you be going on your honeymoon in the summer months (bear in mind that different locations will have different peak seasons). Don’t go overboard with planning though as plenty of free time should be left available, in the first few days especially, in which simply enjoying the company of one another should be your main aim.
Your overall objective should be to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. In addition to standard vacation items, consider packing some fun extras, like lingerie, bubble bath, candles and romantic music. Also, don’t forget to take a camera and video camera with you, so you can look back on your special time together forever.
