With so much going on at a wedding and so much to plan it’s a wonder anyone gets time to think about wedding favors at all. However they can be a great way to show your appreciation to your guests as well as give them something to remember to day by!

In short, wedding favors are small presents or gifts that the bride and groom give their guests during a wedding reception (or sometimes the actual ceremony). These can be whatever you want, but traditionally they were sugar (when it was less plentiful than today) and more recently sugared almonds. Today there is a lot more variety when it comes to wedding favors, including bamboo favors and cd wedding favor. They can literally be anything, but there are a few limitations on what makes a good wedding favor that you should be aware of.

Firstly, you need to know how many people are coming to the wedding. If it’s a lot, then you need to decide whether you can afford to get everyone a favor or whether it would be better to just put on each table. If you can, getting every guest a different favor is the best way but depending on your budget this might not be feasible.

The theme your wedding is using is vital in deciding a favor. Your favor should complement your wedding theme, not clash with it in any way, so keep that in mind. For example a bamboo wedding favor would look fantastic at a tropical wedding but not so at a traditional one, while the same applies for sugared almonds but in reverse.

You also need to think about longetivity. That means how long the guests are likely to hang onto the gifts after the wedding. Ideally you want them to be something that your guests actually like so they can be reminded of your special day for a long time to come! Of course you can’t always do this but it is something that you should bear in mind when choosing a favor.
