Saving a relationship may well seem like hard work, but it should be worth the effort. Especially if you can feel there is still some love left. The next three tips could be just the thing to kick-start you into getting your ex back, or your relationship back on the rails.

1 – Rewind to the start of it all

Who, or what did you fall in love with? Think about that. And just what was it about you that they fell for? It’s so easy to slip into a comfort zone when you’ve been together a while.

At the very beginning you make the effort to please your new found love by playing up on the things they like. You need to recreate that person. You need to rediscover the person that your ex (or partner) first fell in love with.

2 – Mutual attraction

Being attractive to your partner is key to a good relationship. Without it there is nothing. Think of magnets. They are attracted to each other, but turn them round and they are repelled by each other. If you aren’t attracting your partner you must be repelling them.

Being attracted to someone doesn’t just mean liking the way they look, or finding them sexy. You could easily be attracted to your partners’ sense of humour or self confidence. Identify what they were attracted to and play up on that again.

3 – Talk it over

Trying to save your relationship by having in depth heated debates with your partner (or ex) isn’t going to work. None of us want an interrogation about the problems. Try not to be heavy handed when talking together. They will be thankful for some light-hearted chat.

When you first met and conversation was easy and smooth. This is what you need to recreate now. You both became closer by having those early conversations. Demonstrate to your ex (or partner) that you can be that person again that they first met and enjoyed chatting to and you will have a better chance of saving your relationship.

Although the tips above seem simple enough when you read them, actually putting them into practice is much more difficult. If we aren’t confident of what we are doing we tend to avoid doing it. I’m guilty of this myself. A lack of confidence will greatly reduce your chances of success.
