In these lean economic times, many brides are finding it hard to balance their dream wedding and their financial resources.  However, these brides won’t have to settle for less with wedding favors .  With a little imagination and elbow grease, brides can create wedding favors that will exhibit their unique personality and style while also saving their resources for other parts of the wedding.  Here are some wedding favor ideas:

Idea #1: Seeds Encased in Glassine Envelopes
These eco friendly wedding favors are inexpensive to make and an earth-friendly option that underscores the bridal couple’s concern for the environment.

Materials: Glassine Envelopes, Flower/Plant Seeds, Personalized Wedding Stickers

Instructions: Fill each glassine envelope with a handful of seeds bought at your local supermarket. Fasten the envelope with a personalized label with your names and wedding date. Lay an envelope at each place setting or all together in a wicker or wooden basket or tray – a great earth-friendly favor for green weddings.

Idea #2:  Car Air Freshener Wedding Favors
Your wedding guests will be in for a sweet-smelling surprise when they get into their cars after the reception. Wish your guests a safe journey home by having the valet hang your aromatic wedding favor from the car’s rearview mirror!

Materials: Sheer Favor Drawstring Pouches, Bridal Hang Tag, Potpourri, Tape

Instructions: Fill a pouch with your favorite potpourri. Tug the drawstrings closed to assure the aromatic contents are safely secured. Around the neck of the pouch, tie a personalized Bridal Hang Tag to thank your guest for their presence and to wish them a safe journey home.  Using a small piece of tape, have the valet driver dangle your homemade car air freshener from the back of the rearview mirror.  What an inspired and sensible wedding favor idea!

Idea #3: A Perfect Pear Wedding Favor
Juicy pears make delicious wedding favors! Either displayed in the center of a guest’s table setting or as a batch in a large crate at a central table, pears are a festive nod to the holiday season!

Materials:  Personalized Ribbons, Anjou Pears, Clear food wrap

Instructions: Wrap each pear with clear cellophane. You can also use colored cellophane to give a hint of the season or holiday in which your wedding will take place. Tie each package with a satin ribbon printed with your names and wedding date.  Chocolate-brown is a good color ribbon to use because it will give a beautiful contrast against the green-colored pear.
