Avoiding Marriage Proposal Errors And Mistakes
09 May 2010
When you’re ready to ask the woman of your dreams to marry you, you are ready to take one of the most fantastic leaps forward you’ll ever know. Of course, you can make it a special moment or you can make it an awkward moment, depending on how you go about it. Remember that men and women tend to think differently, so you’ll want to put yourself in her shoes before you go about it.
The ring style should fit her personality and her desires. The eternity ring is a popular choice, but it is certainly not the only choice. Unless she has expressed a particular interest in a specific style you can usually make your choice by what seems to be the fitting choice for the woman you love.
When guys want to make a big deal out of their proposals, they often think big but in ways that can become awkward. Opting to offer up princess cut engagement rings during a sporting event is most often not the way to go. Even women who accept these proposals often state later that they wish their husband had thought of a more private and intimate method of asking for her hand in marriage.
If you are planning on being one of those guys that flips open the solitaire engagement rings on the freeway while driving to your mother’s house you might want to rethink your plan. If the day went well, perhaps you can find a spot on the way home, but ultimately you want to be able to give her your undivided attention after the proposal.
She might not agree to your proposal and having an event to contend with on top of the rejection can be devastating. Avoid this by finding some private time to share a personal moment together. You don’t have to make it huge and public for it to be special. In fact, usually it’s the other way around.
Simple basics like long walks on the beach, romantic candle lit dinners, and quiet moments together are still the best bet. You can find creative and artistic ways to ask her to be your wife, but ultimately what matters is that you are not applying additional pressure outside of the actual proposal.
Think hard about what you believe she will find to be the most impressive method of proposing. Give her the moment and the likelihood that the moment will turn out well is significantly improved. When you think about how she might feel you tend to make much better proposal judgments.
