Haha! Well you're kind of assuming things but when I got married I told my husband that we were going to do it on top of a building if you must know and we did. We got married on top of the Sears Tower

Get a glass bowl and put sand in them then put mini cocoa puffs as cocoanuts and miniture plants that seem as they are palm trees.

for a little extra put seashells or maybe a live hermit crab That doesnt seem so cheesy to me, there is a way to make things possible.

    GOOD-LUCK

I like the idea of the seashells and the hermit crabs! It's still beachy and fun, but not quite as cheesy as palm trees. Local flowers in pots could be pretty, too.
    Congrats and good luck!!

I KNOW I've seen little ceramic figurines of "coqui's" in wedding attire. I thought they were cute! (at least for the shower)
Get those little "fishbowl" shaped candle/poupurri glass holders, add sand, and the little palm tree miniatures… maybe half regular sand, half blue (dyed) sand, so you give everyone a little bit of the beach to take back with them…

Given your location, I would suggest you go with beach wedding favors. There are many different ones available from which to choose so that they can fit in with wedding theme at

I am sorry, but live hermit crabs should not be used for center pieces. They are a living creature and do have criteria they must have to remain healthy. Without the proper temperature, or humidity level I do not think if the hermit crab leaves its shell is something anybody will want sitting at their table.

Surely you don’t mean live hermit crabs, do you?

Unless you’re willing to scoop them all off a beach, you’ll be paying a buttload of money for them at a petshop. Plus, unless you take care of them properly, they’ll either have a slow and agonizing death or will die in a matter of hours.

I really hope you don’t mean live. They aren’t exactly cute when they die and fall out of their shell, you know :(

Excuse me but surely you aren’t thinking of using live hermit crabs as part of your center piece? Instead of letting hermit crabs die a slow death as people eat, why don’t you make some out of clay and stick one of those god awful painted shells that some people seem to love? Don’t get so mixed up in the hoopla of your wedding that you offend people - and you will. You already have.

i hope you dont mean live hermit crabs. cause you have to keep them in a tank with the right humidity and temp. or else they might come out of there shell and not go back in and die. it also would be mean to them cause there so cute.

I agree with the two above, it would not be a good idea to use live hermit crabs. Maybe some cute little plastic crabs, but live hermit crabs would be far more than you want to deal with, and do you really want their slow, painful deaths on your hands?
They really are unattractive without their shells, and I don’t think you want your guest’s witnessing a hermit crab in it’s death throes. It isn’t pretty. They need a very specific habitat to stay alive, please don’t put them through that kind of torture.

Live hermit crabs? How ridiculous, these are living creatures not 5 hour fun toys. That is not only cruel but absolutely uncalled for. There are so so many other things you can use that do not involve something dying a slow and agonising death. Have a heart & think of something else, or better yet maybe you can stuff volvo_lover22 and ceili in a jar for entertainment.

Live hermit crabs are not a disposable pet, nor should they be used for disposable wedding decorations. They have very strict requirements for their living conditions that could not possibly be met by placing them in a container on a table. This idea would not be “cute” at all. As soon as the hermit crabs start to suffocate, there is a better than average chance they will die on the table, and fall out of their shell. Please research this fully so that you can understand the ramifications of having a live animal as a “decoration”.

Beach party favors sound wonderful, but I would strongly advise you not to use live hermit crabs. The concept is much like one of keeping dogs or cats in cages around the table for your guests to oggle–an experience that no living animal should have to endure. Also, hermit crabs require specific necessities that it would be impossible to fullfil when the animal is in a jar on a fancy table. Dead hermit crabs are not only unsightly and a truly tragic sight, but as they are sea creatures they will begin to emit a very unpleasant odor soon after death. Please do not make the mistake of using live crabs as decoration; it does not sound like a good plan, and frankly it is very cruel to the animal. Empty shells or some kind of tropical flower, like a calalily, would make a much more attractive and human centerpiece.
