I want to do center pieces that make a statement without costing a fortune. I LOVE the white ostrich feather in the tall vases but to cut cost what do you think about adding the Pampas grass to give it more of a natural look and mimic a palm tree? Also how do you get the plumes to stay in the vase so they dont slide down or fall out? I have a few years to go but I am trying to find something more original and not readily seen. Thank you for your time to help me with my question.
Also I didnt realise there is different heights of these eiffel tower vases what is the commonly used height when usinf ostrich feathers so they dont hang in the way of the guests vision?
The comb thing that was mentioned is called a Kensan or pin frog - but would not fit in an eifel tower vase, if that is the vase you are reffering to. And in general would not work for this style of design regardless of the vase.
In general you want all flowers/foliage etc above 17 inches to not block conversation across the table. So I generally use vase that are 24 to 27 inches tall.
Depending on the look you are going for, the plumes are either balanced as they tilt side ways or wedged with other stems to stay in position. Most florist have other tricks too depending on the effect we are trying to acheive.

I was thinkin in using betta fishes for my wedding center pieces and I want to put a flower inside and a floating candle on top would that harm the fish?? anyway Im having trouble picking the bridesmaids color of dress and the color of flowers does everything have to match. Please help. Any ideas???
Bettas aren't too expensive (a few bucks each depending where you buy them). The floating candles won't harm them (it's not as if the fish can catch fire right?) . Bettas are hardy fish, but extremely sensitive to cold. We were given a betta fish in a vase with one of those water plants in it as a gift at a rehearsal dinner. I was so excited to have a new little pet. Anyway, we left the vase in the car overnight (the wedding was out of town so we were staying at a hotel) and apparently it got a little chilly that night. The poor little guy was floating the next day.
Anyway…it's a cute idea, just makes sure they have a home to go to after the wedding. Don't want to have the ASPCA after you! As to your second question. No, everything doesn't have to "match", but it should coordinate. For example…if your bridesmaids dressed are blue, I wouldn't pick all blue flowers, but maybe a centerpiece which has a touch of blue here and there. Good luck..hope this helps!
Edit: By the way…don't put more than one male in each display…they will kill each other. Little bits of dead fish aren't too romantic.

The girls are wearing brown and green dresses and the guys have their mossy oak vests and ties. I am not sure what to use as the center pieces and wedding favors. What kind of flowers should I have? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
You should have dark green table cloths and low vases filled with water, in these you should place floating duckies.

make sure you use cat tails in your bouquet.

So im planning my wedding. I wanted to hear some ideas on what you might have. I dont want any flower center pieces. But shoot me some ideas.. Thanks!
fresh fruit. I’ve seen some lovely things done by very simply mounding fruit in bowls, and some very extravagant arrangements done on foam. If the wedding will be around Christmas, have mini trees or wreaths. Candle groupings are also very nice for an evening reception. Just go with whatever is in season and reflects the theme of Your wedding, and your personality
