well, my sister was going to put candy in these jars and put them in the center of the tables, but she couldn’t afford the candy. now she has all these jars and isn’t quite sure what to do for centerpieces. she was thinking about putting water in them and having flowers floating on the water. is that a good idea.
and also, is it normal to make programs for a wedding, i mean i’ve seen it before so i know people do it, but is it something that you should or shouldn’t have?
thank you guys, my sister's wedding is in a week, and she has a lot of last minute things that she didn't really think about til the last minute when everything else was done
You can take jars and fill them with water – then you can add some gems to the bottom. Like these: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/skybluvasgem.html
If she can fit it into her budget she could also hide floralytes inside the gems. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/floralytes2.html
Then she could either add fresh flowers to the top or floating candles.
I personally didn’t make programs – I didn’t have the time and it was just another added cost. No one missed them…but you certainly can do it if you want to.

We are having white slipcovers for the seats and white linen on the tables. Basically we need some type of black on the table as a centerpiece. Our wedding is June of next year. Got any cool ideas?
Great answers so far! I just wanted to add that my flowers are pink tiger lillies and hot pink orlando roses.
Why not try feathers! I've always thought that feathers are fun and festive, but elegant at the same time. You could do so many combinations of black, white and highlight with pinks.

I am thinking glass bowls with floating candles. I will have over 300 guests so I will have about 40 tables. It will be an October wedding in SC.
(I really wanted a small wedding, but then the parents got involved
)
You guys are awesome! I am not completely sold on the floating candles idea, i just saw it done in the space and thought it was pretty. I may be able to get some mismatched bowls of all different sizes for free, but I wasn't sure if that would look okay. what do you think?

Indian wedding for about 500-600 people which means 50-60 tables. Might need to get something different for the RSVP tables. looking for something not over the top but not dull either. Any help would be appreciated.
Ah… we have 400 people invited and these are my ideas:
1. buy a couple wholesale cases of vases, buy flameless tealights and fill them with those clear colored rocks and place the light inside (it provides a fire-free way to look like a candle) Then put flowers/branches coming out of the vase- it looks like light-up flowers, really beautiful…
2. Get plastic cake stands for each table and put a candle on the top (there are flameless larger candles you can get as well) then put 2 or 3 different colored flowers around the two bottom tiers. It looks like a cake with a candle on the top, and it gorgeous!
3. Order large flat-bowls (glass) and do floating flowers and candles- gives a nice ambiance for a night time wedding
Good Luck!!! Oh yeah, and remember, you can get a lot of wholesale items on ebay in large quantities!

i'm having a casual backyard wedding in october, any ideas for table centerpieces? No pumpkins.
fresh flowers, not silk
colors are fall colors: chocolate brown, burnt orange, crimson red
I used a fall theme for my wedding last November.
I used small galvanized water pails. I wrote on the side of the pail, placing our names and the date of the wedding. I inserted styrofoam in the water pail, inserted a white tapered candle and place fall flowers around the candle.
I bought the water pails in the craft department at Wal-Mart for around $1.00. The candles and flowers were another $1.00. So the centerpiece was around $2.00 each.
For the main table, my mother bought a huge glass goblet, filled with water and placed goldfish. She then used a fall flowers wreath to place around the goblet. It was unique and beautiful.
We did not lite the candles. It was just a visual.
We used alot of fall colored leaves and scattered on the table and around the cake table too.

I am thinking about putting about six Gerber daisies in a large rectangular vase for my table centerpieces at my wedding. I want to put a gold fish in there as well but I'm worried about them dying. They would only be in there for half a day at most. What do you think? Any advise?
Wow, these answerers are paranoid. It's only half a day, your goldfish will be fine. And if the fish isn't fine, then who cares? It's your WEDDING. You should be able to do whatever you want. A six dollar goldfish (I assume you'll get a pretty one) is an acceptable loss for your WEDDING, for crying out loud. It's just a fish; where are their priorities? And it'll probably be fine anyway (I've rescued fish from worse) (carnivals, fairs, Walmart, all of them treat the fish worse for weeks and weeks than you will for half a day).
Honey, if that's what you want for your wedding, do it. The fish will be fine, and you only get one chance for your wedding. Have it like you want it.
