I am using wrought iron open pumpkins with a votive inside for my fall wedding and would like to use them to later decorate our home or give to my aunts or my fiancé’s relatives that I am close to. In some cases I have more than one person at a table that I would like to receive the centerpiece. How should I handle this? Am I rude for not letting anyone take them or are guests rude to just up and leave with them?

As a guest at a wedding I would never consider taking the centerpiece off of a table and just leave. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even ask if I could. A lot of times those are rented and the bride and groom would have to pay for them. It would be rude for people to just take them and no, I don't think it is rude of you to not just let anyone take off with your certerpieces. If I can think of a tactful way of making sure only the people you want take home the pumpkins, I'll come back and let you know…. gotta think about this one.

Alright, I'm back… :)

I was reading some of the responses and it seems that I must not be the only one with this idea- I think placing a decorative card with a hand-written note specifically to someone expressing your gratitude to "so-and-so" for their help with "___ part of the wedding planning." Hopefully people would get the idea while not taking it as your saying "stay away from my centerpieces!" And, it's a nice touch to thank individuals who helped you a lot by having it out there for others to see and read.

Well, I hope that was somewhat helpful. Don't worry too much; I'm sure it will all work out. Not to mention your ideas sound like they are going to make for a beautiful wedding!:)

I have seen some of these on Ebay but they are overpriced when the bidding ends. I also found some on two "As Seen On TV" websites, but they no longer carry them.

I want to purchase a set to make centerpieces for my wedding reception if anyone knows where I can (online).

Thanks in advance! = )

You can purchase Centerpiece at
http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=Centerpiece&tag=search0d8-20&index=garden&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325
Good luck!

decorations for wedding reception centerpieces.

Are you having favors? If you are, ask the reception hall to put a colored napkin in the middle of each table. Get a small glass votive holder and light the candle. Put the favors around the candle in the middle.

Another idea is to get a cheap vase which you get get at the dollar store, and put an arrangement of tulips in it that match your colors. Tulips are a very nice flower and are very inexpensive. Congratulations

When is your wedding, and what centerpieces are you having/do you want?

We have ours picked out - 10 candles in different sizes around an Eiffel tower filled with burgundy and white orchids, and our wedding is July 19, 2009. I would love to know what you are using! =) Thanks!

Oh lord, I wish I knew…
I'm terrible at this sort of thing.

We're getting married on 6-13-09 - the idea that I had was to do cream colored tablecloths, with cream colored orchids, in chocolate brown square planters. Our colors are cream, brown, and green (leaves).

Another idea I had was to do a green dish filled with brown river rocks, with a gardenia blossom floating in water.
