At the end of July, my wedding arrives. I'm not a 'Bridezilla" although I ve been through three planners, 2 photographers, and now possibly, at the last moment a new Floral decorator…Why?…Because, after quite a bit of research, I settled on a designer who i thought would easily meet my expectations…I decicided on varied height centerpieces, using a array of summer blooms such as dahlias, Cockscomb, Peonies, Hydrangea, viburnum, asiatic Lilies, Garden Roses, and anything else that may be available the week of my party. The colrs are a mix of all shades of pink, orange, peach, butter yellow and chartreuse…But now my 'Hero" informs me that due to poor crops around the world recently he will have a difficult time procurring these types of blooms, in these colors…(However, he CAN get the flowers I prefer in shades of Lavender, Cinammon, Chocolate,Celedon and Hot pink) Interesting, these are the exact colors (minus the pink) that both he and my Fiancee suggested. What to do?
Well umm you sound a little like a bridezilla it is your fiancee's wedding too he should get some say, besides it is just flowers trust me nobody is going to care what everything looks like i guarantee they will not even remember what color flowers you had, they are there simply to get fed their dollars worth of whatever gift they bought you and leave.

how to make tall centerpieces?
12 Mar 2009
I already have the really tall eiffel tower vases but im having a really hard time making them look nice and full. I have no floral experiece so I dont even know what to use. Do I use foam, wire, etc? How is it done? any websites with instructions would be very helpful. Thank you!
we are using the same vases for our centerpieces.
since i don't have access to florist supplies i am putting my own spin on making them
i am
using 5" styrofoam balls. put 1 on top of the vase and with a marker- mark the area just outside of the top of the vase
should be a square if yours are like mine
with a sharp knife- carve out the square- make it about 2 inches deep
stick it on the vase to make sure it's the right size and won't wobble
cover it with spanish moss or other green moss (use floral picks found in craft stores to secure it)
put it back on top of the vase and start placing your flowers
if you are using silks they will stick and stay
if you are using fresh you might want to put wire up the stem or wrap the stem with wire to give support to the flowers
what kind of flowers are you using? i can help more with a lil more info. email me if you need more help
this is mainly the look i'm going for for ours just not using as many flowers. i am also using silks, gerbers, tulips, roses and fillers. spanish moss and ivy too

Hi! I'm a freelance floral designer and I would like to know what are the most popular varieties of roses that you use for weddings? I'm having a hard time ordering the specific variety that I need… for example, creamy white is so different than stark white, and there are so many different pinks!!! Also, for bouquets and boutonierres I need the blooms to stay tighter, while for centerpieces, I need blooms that blow open quickly and have a high petal count. Can you help me with an easy guide to wedding roses? Thanks in advance!!!
Well what roses to use during a wedding is subjective to what the bride wants. My mom is a gardening nut and she has this book "American Rose Society Encyclopedia of Roses". It has infomation on 2000 different roses and their properties. I say buy the book and expand on what types of roses you use. Good Luck!

I was asked to make centerpieces and some tessy messys for a Christmas Victorian tea our local library is having. I have looked up a lot about victorian floral arrangements but im trying to think of creative things to put in the arrangement. I have a few ideas like holly, gold spray-painted pine cones & twigs, evergreen.
My colors are red, gold and silver.
So do you have any suggestions to what i could put in the arrangement or something very victorian i could incorporate?
Thanks so much for your help!
* roses would be appropriate
and * for the (Tussie-Mussies…the way I learned the spelling) you could use some little carnations in different colors with some tiny white flowers and greens
here is something to look at in case it would inspire you

What do i need to make my own bouquets?
07 Mar 2009
I am just placing an order online for my supplies to make my own wedding bouquets and table decorations. Is there anything else i will need, this is what ive already got: silk flowers, silk leaves/foilage, bouquet holders, stemwrap tape, glue, pearl sprays, grass bush, centerpiece tray, dry foam, floral wire. Anything i have forgot?
You'll need wire cutters - they are a big help when trimming the stems! And you have ribbon, right? Good luck!

You can do something as simple as this for a centre piece. Just use a yellow and/or red (fake or real) rose instead of pink like in the photo. If you use a red rose, use a yellow candle, and if you use a yellow rose use a red candle.

I would like them to be floral. My colors are lavender and white.
You could do a floral and candle centerpiece. Maybe a tall pillar candle in either the lavender or white colours and then create a ring of flowers to match out of silk flowers so they will hold up during the day. One thing you will need to check with your reception location is whether you are allowed to have open flames on candles. Some city's have enacted bylaws that these places cannot have an open flame and need to have glass surrounding them to be legal. Just check with your reception location on those kinds of restrictions.
Alternatively, you could get flower petals in your colours and float them in water in a fish bowl. I've seen that done very nicely before.
