Shower Centerpieces?
08 Feb 2009
We're trying to figure out the best way to give away the centerpieces for the bridal shower. I was thinking whoever has been married at the table the longest, but some of the women are widows…so that wouldn't be very good…
Should I put a star under one seat at each table? Or under a plate? Are there any creative ideas that anyone has?
–Can't use the game winners because there are several tables, and it's not a guarantee that one person from each table is going to win a game
— I'm not saving them for the wedding as it's an entirely separate thing…it's a kitchen themed bridal shower, the wedding is going to have flower centerpieces

2009 Feb 08 2I've been to a few receptions that gave away centerpieces. Some did the star under the plate, or seat. but one did a type of hot potato game. they presented one person at each table with a pen and then asked them to pass it to the right, two people to the left, three to the right. the person across and so on…. once they stopped they said ok, the person holding the pen can keep it, and the person accross keeps the centerpiece
the pens were personalized and they chose the person accross the table so that it wouldn't be a part of the couple with the pen

2009 Feb 08 3you could have the centerpieces be the prize for winning a game on say who knows the most about the bride or the groom……..
or depending on the centerpiece it could be an additional gift to the bride ….. or it could remain with the party host(s)

2009 Feb 08 5you can do a "hot-potato" or raffle style game, or ask trivia aboutt he brideand/or groom, like "what is the bride's favorite color?" or "what was the first date the bride and groom went on?"

2009 Feb 08 7Set a timer to go off at intervals while the bride-to-be is opening her gifts. Whoever's gift she is opening at the time the timer goes off gets one of the centerpieces.

2009 Feb 08 9Yes, do the note under one chair at each table. And don't tell anyone, or they'll wrangle for seating!
However, consider whether you can use these at the wedding. I used the shower centerpieces a friend of mine made on some of the tables at the dinner.
