Holiday Decorations To Wedding Decorations
26 Dec 2010
If you are like most people, you probably have boxe and boxes of Christmas ornaments piled up in your attic that you only take down during the holidays. If you are having a wedding during the winter and holidays, you can dig through all of your holiday decorations to see if you can use any for your wedding. You and/or your family members already own them, so why spend extra money buying something new? Check out these beautiful ways in which you can recycle your holiday decorations to use for your wedding.
Who doesn’t have hundreds of tiny white Christmas lights tangled up in their attic? You can use white lights for just about anything. Those little white lights which look so merry twinkling on your Christmas tree will look just as festive wrapped around the pillars of your reception venue entrance. Or bring life to the potted tress at your wedding venue by using the lights on them. Small lights combined withfloral garlands creates a beautiful decorations piece hung across the head table. Just think about how your bridal jewelry will sparkle in all of that lovely twinkling light!
Plain round Christmas ornaments are actually incredibly useful as wedding decorations. The trick to using them in ways which are festive but do not make your wedding look like a holiday party is choose the colors carefully. Classic red and green together will definitely scream “Merry Christmas”, but if you take your silver ornaments and combine them with matte finish lime green or purple balls, they lose the holiday association. You can stuff beautiful glass urns with colorful ornaments anywhere you’d like to add colorful decorations with little to no effort at all. Oversized urns are perfect for altar decorations and smaller ones ideal for the guest book table. If you are planning on wearing lots of sparkly bridal jewelry, choose some ornaments with a glittery finish to combine with the smooth ones. Round ornaments also look marvelous suspended in rows with pretty ribbons across a high doorway or over windows.
What about the miniature table-top Christmas trees that many people own – did you know that you can re-purpose those for holiday wedding decorations? They make fantastic centerpieces for a winter wedding. Give the trees a wedding feels by decorating the with a white and gold color palette instead of the original red ornaments. Decorate the trees with teardrop crystals, small gold berry sprays, and tiny white flowers. If you prefer pearl bridal jewelry, swap out the teardrop crystals for large teardrop faux pearls and then top each tree with a large white satin bow for the perfect finishing touch.
There are many other holiday ornaments which can work equally well as wedding decorations. The bride and groom’s chairs can be decorated with small wreaths designed with silver and gold bell ornaments. Or borrow your mom’s collection of clip-on bird ornaments (every mom has those, right?) and clip them to branches as part of a nature-inspired reception tablescape. Favor boxes could bedecorated with red and white ribbon as well as litle sprigs of faux berries.
With so many creative possibilities, you will find many fun ways to recycle your holiday decorations into wedding décor. So before you purchase a single thing to decorate your ceremony or reception space, tear open all those boxes marked “X-mas” gathering dust in the attic. You might just find a treasure trove of wedding decorations!
